Jack’s 61st Birthday
If Jack were still alive, yesterday, December 17th, 2005, would have been his 61st birthday. If only he were still alive.

I had my first chance to do some recreational reading in 6 or 7 months this weekend, and of course picked one of Jack Chalker’s books. Since I first read “Lords of the Middle Dark” in high school, I have read every book by Jack that I could find. Not only was he a great story teller who could spin terrific tales of adventure, but he told stories that said something about human nature. (Given recent events, I’ve been thinking of “A War of Shadows” often.) He will be missed and long remembered.

Yeah, I had planned to read his novels when he was 9, despite the warnings that his books were going to be adultish, and through the first three pages I was really confused. I hope to read Dad’s novels soon though.

Hi, I don’t mean to intrude. I just wanted to say that “Twillight at the Well of Souls” changed my imagination and indeed my life forever. I heard of his passing, but just now stumbled apon this site. I always hold out hope that the books would become a grand set of movies. But I’m sure that they could never match the world spun in my mind with his deep yet colorful story telling. I also think that they would be awesome videogames if done correctly. Either way he will live on forever in my mind as one of the best. I do my best to pass it on, and someday my kids will read them. Thank-you Jack. *weep*
